Module 4: Yin Yoga to MEDITATION
Why Meditation?
Learning and practicing meditation is just as crucial as the physical yoga asana practice and is often perceived as the deeper experience. What do we mean when we say we meditate? In short, meditation is a mental training and a way to better connect with oneself.
It is definitely not "thinking" or "reflecting," although it may occur as a side effect. Meditation is a state of consciousness distinct from the normal waking state. In meditation, we are fully alert and awake, but our minds are not focused on the outside world or anything else happening around us.
In this module, participants will be introduced to elements from both Vedanta and Buddhism that are considered appropriate for an introduction to meditation.
What are the meditation hurdles and how do we deal with them?
Part of the teacher training involves examining the so-called original source of the five hindrances, as taught in Buddhism. It is helpful to know the classic five hindrances and how to deal with them constructively. This strengthens our meditation and mindfulness practice. These hindrances arise both in meditation and in daily life. The point is not to get rid of them or fight them, but to recognize them and practice healthy ways of dealing with them.
Benefits of Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra?
In this module, we will learn the guided meditation Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra is also called yogic deep sleep. It is a form of meditation in which participants are guided through a series of perceptions while lying down. This relaxes the nervous system, recharges energy, and at the same time, calmness returns.
The calm Yin Yoga practice serves as a catalyst and can facilitate the meditation practice depending on the intensity and the day's mood. Sometimes, however, it is also perceived as the source of obstacles when physical and mental restlessness is very great. The goal of this module is to achieve levels of mental calm and contentment through the combination of the two. An effect that goes far beyond what is experienced on the mat.

Lead Teacher Yin Yoga und Yoga Nidra Training Vienna
Nikoleta enjoyed two Yin Yoga sessions during her first Hatha/Vinyasa Yoga training. Even then, it was clear that she would focus less on Vinyasa and more on Yin Yoga in the future.
Since then, she has completed two Yin Yoga trainings with international teachers, both of whom studied under the godfather of Yin Yoga, Paul Grilley.
Since then, Nikoleta has completed approximately 800 hours of Yin Yoga training, combined with meditation, TCM, and acupressure. Over the years, she has taught hundreds of Yin Yoga classes, primarily in Vienna. She varies her Yin Yoga classes, focusing on either more physical challenges, mental focus, energy pathways, meditation, spirituality, etc.
