TCM - The teaching of the 5 elements and meridians in Yin Yoga
What is TCM?
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is based on the system of five elements, which connects body, mind, and environment. It explains how seasons, organs, and certain exercises are related—for example, why autumn begins in August or why salty foods are beneficial in winter.
Through meridian theory, TCM helps regulate emotions, focus the mind, and stabilize the nervous system. It supports balancing physical ailments and preventing illness—with the goal of promoting holistic health and free flow of Qi.
Why Yin Yoga with TCM?
The teachings of Yin Yoga are based on Taoism and aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The combination of Yin Yoga postures and Traditional Chinese Medicine is therefore an absolute dream team.
What can you learn from this combination? You'll learn to release physical and mental tension, gain deeper access to your inner consciousness, and finally be able to better control, or rather, accept, the omnipresent mental images.
Combination in the Yin Yoga Teacher Training in Austria
In this 25-hour Yin Yoga teacher training, you will learn how to use this TCM system and how to meaningfully incorporate the five elements and the teachings of the meridians into your classes to provide added value to your students. This knowledge will also help you deepen and better understand your own practice.
Based on this TCM knowledge, Yin Yoga – with a focus on the meridians – is practiced depending on the season or specific needs to strengthen or maintain health and well-being.

Lead Teacher of Yin Yoga Teacher Training Vienna
Nikoleta enjoyed two Yin Yoga sessions during her first Hatha/Vinyasa Yoga training. Even then, it was clear that she would focus less on Vinyasa and more on Yin Yoga in the future.
Since then, she has completed two Yin Yoga trainings with international teachers, both of whom studied under the godfather of Yin Yoga, Paul Grilley.
Since then, Nikoleta has completed approximately 800 hours of Yin Yoga training, combined with meditation, TCM, and acupressure. Over the years, she has taught hundreds of Yin Yoga classes, primarily in Vienna. She varies her Yin Yoga classes, focusing on either more physical challenges, mental focus, energy pathways, meditation, spirituality, etc.
